Careful preparation
Existing surfaces are assessed properly before work begins, so cracks, loose plaster and unsuitable backgrounds are not simply covered over.
About SJT
Straightforward domestic plastering across Derby, completed with careful preparation, respect for your home and close attention to the final finish.

Meet your plasterer
I have spent more than 20 years working in the plastering trade, completing domestic plastering, skimming, plasterboarding and repair work across Derby and the surrounding area.
I believe good plastering starts before the first coat is applied. The existing surface needs to be assessed properly, loose or damaged areas need to be dealt with and the correct preparation needs to be chosen for the background.
I do not believe in simply covering problems over. Where a wall or ceiling needs repair, boarding or additional preparation, I will explain what I have found and recommend the approach I would be comfortable using in my own home.
From your first enquiry through to completion, you deal directly with me. There is no sales team and no handover between different people—just clear communication with the person assessing, quoting and carrying out the work.
Floors and surrounding areas are protected carefully before work begins. During the job, I aim to keep the working area organised and leave it as clean and orderly as practical at the end of each day.
My working principles
Whether the work involves a local repair or several complete rooms, the same principles guide how the job is assessed, protected and completed.
Existing surfaces are assessed properly before work begins, so cracks, loose plaster and unsuitable backgrounds are not simply covered over.
Floors, furniture and adjoining surfaces are protected carefully, with disruption kept as controlled as possible throughout the work.
You receive a clear explanation of what the surface needs, what the work involves and the most practical route to a lasting finish.
Every job is completed with close attention to walls, ceilings, reveals, edges and internal angles—not just the most visible areas.
What you can expect
Having work carried out in your home should not feel uncertain. You should understand what is being recommended, who will complete the work and what will happen next.
