The Brief

A bedroom in Allestree, together with the small cupboard room next to it, needed the walls and ceilings skimming ready for decorating. The work covered 62 m² and was completed over two days.

The Challenge

The walls had been stripped, leaving patchy surfaces and old repairs, and there were areas of damaged plaster that needed repairing before any skimming could start. The skirting line also needed building out so the new skirting would be easier to fix.

Our Approach

The floor was protected before work started. Damaged plaster was repaired, the skirting line was built out and the walls were prepared to give a suitable background for the new plaster. The walls and ceilings of both rooms were then given a complete skim.

The Result

Both rooms now have smooth, even walls and ceilings, with the repaired areas blending into the new finish. Once the plaster has dried, the rooms are ready for decorating, and the new skirting has a straight, solid line to fix to.
